Changed my life! March 21, 2010 Susan (NEWTONVILLE, MA United States) This book changed my life! I was interested in becoming vegetarian.... I read the book and followed the author's suggestion of giving up meat, sugar and dairy for one month. After one week I was surprised at how much energy I had and how amazing I felt! And my skin cleared up - just like she said!
Changed my life! March 21, 2010 A. Porter (Olympia, WA) Alicia did a wonderful job with this book. It is easy to read, makes sense and everything I have made from it has been delicious! This lifestyle is something I have been interested in for sometime, but was never really sure how to begin and make sure that I was eating a balanced diet. Alicia has opened my eyes and I feel like I can see the world and our food clearer now. Thank you Alicia! If you are thinking if purchasing this book, don't think just do it! Best decision I have made in a long time!
Good, but lacks Nutritional Information March 20, 2010 Marian, the Librarian 3 cheers for Ms. Silverstone for this book which contains great information about where our food comes from and how it is becoming increasingly unsafe, and most importantly, how many of the animals we eat are raised in horribly inhumane conditions (Note: always check labels and choose animal-based items that are humanely raised, e.g., cage-free eggs, etc.). However, I was extremely disappointed that none of the recipes contain ANY caloric or nutritional information. Those oatmeal cookies are delish, but how many can I eat (if I'm trying to watch calories and carbs)? Also, while she recommends alternatives to sugar, even these alternatives are still sugar or "-ose" based ingredients. Sugar of any kind will stop weight loss and change your brain chemistry. So, I recommend this book, for the valuable information it contains and the delish alternative recipes, but not if you want to lose some weight.

Never received a response to my inquiries.
I filed a claim (I think) and still haven't heard a word from anyone regarding this.
Be very careful when buying things.
Very sad and disappointing experience.

This book is well written and based on facts. The focus is primarily on the relationship your body has with the foods that you consume. I can almost hear Alicia telling me the information through the pages. It's a book for everyone no matter what their purpose in reading it.
Personally I have always been the type of person who would never consider giving up meat "I love chicken too much" but after reading this book it became very easy for me to stop eating meat. I stopped in October 2009 and have never looked back.
My life has improved after reading the book and by making some lifestyle changes I have lost weight, I am less frustrated and angry, my mood is ligher, and I am happier person. I am very grateful for this book.
This will be a purchase you will not regret.
